Group B Monsters to Thrill Goodwood Crowd at 72nd Members’ Meeting

The sights, sounds and smells of rallying’s most exciting era will sweep through Goodwood Motor Circuit during the 72nd Members’ Meeting on March 29-30 as the magic of Group B comes to the fore.
From 1982-86, Group B was rallying and made world champions Hannu Mikkola, Stig Blomqvist and Juha Kankkunen into international superstars as flame-spitting Audis, Peugeots and Lancias swept all before them on the world stage.
Group B’s ban on safety grounds in 1986 brought to an end a period of 350bhp homologation specials on the world stage, but Goodwood has assembled an extensive collection of the howling behemoths for the first Members’ Meeting since 1966.
Among 17 confirmed entries for a high-speed demonstration run at the Goodwood Motor Circuit is an example of every four-wheel-drive car that competed at world championship level during rallying’s most thrilling and dangerous era.
The most successful cars of the period; the Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 T16 and Lancia Delta S4 will all be represented in the high-speed on-track demonstration, as will the Lancia 037 – one of which will appear in a rare Wurth livery.
Also in action will be a Renault 5 Maxi Turbo similar to the one taken to victory by French cult hero Jean Ragnotti on the 1985 Tour de Corse and some of the era’s lesser lights, including the MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and unwieldy Citroen BX 4TC.
Each car will take part in a high-speed demonstration at Goodwood Motor Circuit on both Saturday, 29 and Sunday, 30 March.
