Earlier this month Marané luxury swimwear brand together with Soho House in Miami hosted a discussion about the emerging future of men’s fashion and the direction of future trends. Ahead of the evening, Christine Serhal, founder of Uruguayan swimwear label Marané shared exciting news:
“Marané are thrilled to announce our participation in the Faena Bazaar 10 Day Fashion and Art Fair from November 25th to December 4th. “The Faena Bazaar – a never before seen, Rem Koolhaas designed emporium at 34th Street and Collins Avenue – will officially preview a retail extravaganza. Deconstructed unusual luxury experiences come together in a true modern souk.”
“We are delighted to be a part of this exciting, vibrant event where fashion, design, art, cuisine and architecture all come together to create a unique one-off luxury experience,” continued Serhal.
“The Faena Bazaar has been put together by Alan Faena and his collaborators, the architect, Oma/Rem Kolhaas, painter and sculptor, Pedro Friedberg, Spanish designer, Sybilla, ethical fashion retailer, Maison du Mode, Miami multi-disciplinary artist, Typoe and 151 Luwolt who nurture and showcase emerging luxury brands. Visitors will have an amazing experience in a breath-taking space over the 10 days of events, shows and shopping.”
Moving on to the discussion, Serhal spoke about the trends that had inspired her, “there is a shift to a more tailored and fitted cut across menswear and this direction led to the creation of our Manantiales swimshorts. We wanted to retain the comfort and familiarity of an elasticated waistband and drawstring whilst achieving the look of a fitted, and thus more flattering, short. Innovation and the utilisation of new technologies is of great importance to us, and our threadless bonded seam is a world first in luxury men’s swimwear.”
Joining Serhal for the evening, were:
Zach Lynd who specializes in brand strategy and creative direction for hospitality, entertainment and fashion companies. Currently he consults for several major luxury brands including the prestigious perfumer Frederic Malle, is under construction on his fourth NYC restaurant and will launch a modern retail concept with Alan Faena for this year’s Art Basel Miami beach.
Laurent Malecaze, the Managing Director of The Webster which brings an incredibly well curated selection of clothing and accessories. The boutique is frequented by not only women but men as well with locations in Bal Harbour Shops, Miami beach and Houston.
Hassan Pierre, Founder of the world's premier online luxury ethical fashion retailer and traveling boutique Maison de Mode. He will touch on emerging style, environmentally friendly designs and the ever-changing perception of fashion.
Jason Odio, a Miami native and owner of Baby Jane, Sidebar, and Ariete is not only an expert on Miami’s nightlife culture but on the restaurant scene as well.
Ofir Farahan is the owner of OFY and a third generation menswear retailer who grew up immersed in the men’s fashion industry. Ofir’s years of experience in the men’s luxury space has built his expertise in the tastes of modern men.
The evening of discourse and drinks saw the impressive panel lend their varied backgrounds and experience to a lively and convivial conversation with the audience, covering such topics as the direction of men’s fashion, the influences on men’s style and choices, how culture and lifestyle and the ethical aspect of design and fashion play a role in the future of men’s attire.
