New website www.Inthepaddock.co.uk highlights ease and affordability of shared racehorse ownership

Great British Racing has launched a new website, Inthepaddock.co.uk, to showcase to potential buyers just how easy and affordable it can be to become a racehorse owner, with options starting at as little as £100 for a share in a racehorse and featuring racehorses all over the UK.
The website has been created to dispel the myth that racehorse ownership is only for the elite and to capitalise on the fact that 73 per cent of racehorse owners first conduct their research online*, with visitors able to search for racing clubs** and syndicates*** that are tailored to them and at a cost that they can afford.
Using a simple search function which filters results by cost and payment terms, location, jump or flat preference, as well as the average number of club members and the numbers of horses in training, users can then view the club or syndicate’s online profile, where they can find out more about what is offered and get in touch with the racing manager directly.

There is also a wealth of information on the site about racehorse ownership, including a step-by-step guide of key points to consider when thinking about buying, and a number of blog and video case studies from current syndicate and racing club members on their own experiences.

The site currently features over 60 syndicates and racing clubs from across the UK for visitors to choose from, with each ownership entity able to promote and manage their own offering online, for free.
Rod Street, Chief Executive of Great British Racing said: “Being part of a syndicate or racing club is a brilliant way for race fans to take their love of the sport to the next level. However, some of the barriers to becoming involved have in the past included a lack of information on those first steps and the misconception that ownership is  only the domain of the super wealthy.

"Inthepaddock.co.uk debunks that myth and provides a simple mechanism for individuals and groups of friends to find clubs that will suit both them, and their pockets.”

A Racing Club is often a more affordable option and offers a great way to dip your toe into shared ownership. As a member, you will not own any legal or equitable rights to the racehorse, ownership remains with the racing club or a third party. You are likely to pay an all-inclusive membership fee which entitles you to similar benefits to that of a syndicate and can include; owners’ badges, stable visits and social events. In most cases, club members are entitled to a percentage of the prize money, but check individual club terms and conditions.

A Syndicate is where its members, two or more people, own a racehorse (or several racehorses) and make a financial contribution to their purchase in return for legal or equitable title to the horse. Additionally, you will share the costs (for example training fees, travelling and veterinary).

In most cases you will receive a percentage of any prize money earnings over the course of the horses’ career, proceeds from the sale of the horse/s and/or breeding rights – always check individual syndicate terms and conditions.

The syndicate is run by a manager (or syndicator) who manages, administers and promotes the syndicate and who often receives payment to carry out this role.
