Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross Opens After £20m Refurbishment

Following a £20m complete top to toe refurbishment, The Bellhouse Hotel in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire has opened her doors as the Crown Plaza Gerrards Cross Hotel, with a lavish launch party.
The newly designed event space was put to good use, with guests enjoying some incredible canapés, non stop champagne, a cocktail bar, mini spa tasters, some great games and surprises, while dancing the night away to the wonderful live band. In short the party was a great showcase of all the hotel has to offer.
The hotel originally opened as The Bellhouse Hotel in 1932 and soon gained a reputation for quality and luxury. It was acquired by the Cairn Group in 2013 who orchestrated the refurbishment, and has now been inaugurated into the Crowne Plaza portfolio.
Described as “a celebration of both town & country” the 138-bedroomed four-star hotel, spa and events centre is set at the base of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty and is just 17 minutes by train from the centre of London providing the ideal weekend retreat for city dwellers seeking an escape, or business trip base.
Head Chef Dean Crews, formerly of the Charing Cross Hotel, is a great addition to the hotel, and his expertise and experience means that the restaurant 1269 provides a great dining experience. 1269 was the year the neighbouring town of Beaconsfield was first given a charter allowing an annual market for trading livestock, and it is now the name and inspiration for the hotel’s destination bar and restaurant. 1269 Restaurant Bar & Grill specialises in livestock, game and butcher-style preparation. Signature dishes created by award-winning Head Chef Dean Crews include Josper roasted Buccleuch Estate Beef, aged for 28 days in 1269’s in-house ageing room and salad of Denham Wood Pigeon, choucroute, parsnip and speck ham. Having been lucky enough to dine at the chef's table and enjoy his six course tasting menu paired with some sumptuous wines, we can testify that it is well worth a trip to Gerrards Cross.
As you know, every good hotel should have a spa these days, and Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross does not disappoint on this score. Wave Spa and Wellness Centre offers a relaxing and rejuvenating retreat with 15m pool, sauna, steam room and 5 treatment rooms including a Rasul Mud Therapy room. The Rasul Mud therapy is a must, great on the skin and a lot of fun if you do it with a friend!
If you’re looking for more high-energy activity the state-of-the-art Precor gym and two exercise suites providing classes from Spinning and Pilates to the brand new yoga concept; Yin & Yang Yoga, will put you through your paces. Finally you can re-energise and cleanse from the inside out at Wave Juice Bar where the menu is based on the philosophy of healthy, nutritious and balanced tastes offering the “best of what nature has”. We can certainly recommend stopping here for a juice; so fresh and delicious.
With regards to the meeting and events space the hotel have relied on innovation principles devised by BMW Group subsidiary Designworks. A first for a branded hotel. This 6500sqm 'styled with substance’ venue will provide a unique, elegant and technologically advanced proposition for weddings, conferences, meetings and events. David Jones, General Manager for Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross, comments, “We believe we are creating what will be the most sought after events space outside of the capital. The superior design, sheer scale of space available and attention to detail, will make it a superb choice for event organisers or couples looking to host their special day.”
