Yaniv Edery debuts his Gallery in Edinburgh

The Roar of Wealth

At number 4, Picardy Place - an elegant Georgian townhouse in the heart of Edinburgh - something quite extraordinary has arrived. The space is now home to the works of world-renowned artist Yaniv Edery, marking his UK debut. Not content with being a gallery alone, the townhouse also opens its doors for high-end private events, offering one of the capital's most distinctive and intimate settings.

Yaniv himself is instantly disarming — charismatic, warm and deeply engaging; with a gift for languages that puts most of us to shame. He apologises, entirely unnecessarily, for his English, which is impeccable. What needs no translation at all is the pride with which he moves through the space, pausing at each piece with the quiet reverence of a man who knows exactly what went into creating it. This collection represents four years of devoted, painstaking work, and it shows in every square inch.

Edery said: "I am very proud to present my collection in this extraordinary setting in the heart of my dearly beloved Edinburgh, a city so very rich in art, history and culture. This new gallery is designed to bring contemporary art and curated events together, creating a unique experience where audiences can connect with vibrant, immersive works.

"Art is constantly evolving, and my aim is to celebrate this growth by combining creativity, luxury and pop culture in a way that engages, inspires and surprises. I hope this gallery becomes a special place where people come together and explore, reflect and celebrate, while hosting unforgettable private occasions."

His collection does precisely that. The online images are a pale imitation - you genuinely have to stand in front of these works to appreciate what Edery has achieved. There is a physicality and a presence to them that no screen can convey.

Moroccan-born Yaniv's creative journey began in fashion and textile, a background that reveals itself in his extraordinary command of material, surface and texture. It was his daughter who inspired him to leave that world behind and channel everything he had learned into becoming a self-taught artist. After years of experimentation - layering resin over carefully injected acrylic and ink on brushed aluminium - he developed a wholly original technique that produces richly textured works of striking dimensionality, extraordinary depth and intricate, almost architectural detail.

Unafraid of colour or the iconography of luxury, his work incorporates instantly recognisable motifs - Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Chanel - woven into compositions that feel simultaneously irreverent and refined. His signature animal portraits, rendered in resin, crystals and metallic finishes, are reactive to light in a way that is genuinely arresting. They blur the boundary between pop art and contemporary sculpture, and Edery actively encourages you to touch them. It is a curiously intimate experience for a gallery setting, and a deeply memorable one.

"I urge you to experience this collection immediately — it is an honour to have it housed in our capital city," says art enthusiast and dedicated collector Karam Kaur. "It is truly unique and inspirational. The shifting light reveals new depths in every piece, while the animals' eyes possess an uncanny life, following you through the room. Each work is so exceptional that selecting a favourite is a near-impossible task. It was, however, a particular highlight to meet the artist himself - it was an absolute privilege to have Yaniv Edery showcase his work personally in such an intimate, private setting. A truly fabulous encounter with a master of his craft."

The calibre of Edery's admirers speaks for itself. Stevie Wonder's team appointed him to create a custom piano. Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc are avid collectors. Prince Albert of Monaco - in whose principality Yaniv now resides - is a devoted fan who has enthusiastically introduced Edery's work to his inner circle. The Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel Resort appointed him artist in residence, a position he has held for eight years. His collections have been exhibited at Art Basel in Miami, and he was selected as the opening artist for the Qatar World Cup.

No.4 Picardy Place is, in every sense, the right address for his UK debut. The street is famously the birthplace of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - a fitting connection for an artist whose work rewards close inspection and reveals more the longer you look. The gallery preserves the townhouse's classical architectural character while providing a striking and sympathetic backdrop for works that are anything but conventional. Private viewings are available by appointment.
