Lepeda Kefalonia Greece

Luxury Lixouri In Greece’s Kefalonia

Sure enough, a week later I was back. Having previously recorded my experience of Kefalonia’s northern niches in Fiscardo and southern shores in Lourdata I just had to complete my exploration of the island and the western waves of Paliki.

As a peninsula Paliki is wonderful to drive around. I hired a car from Rentcarkefalonia (www.rentcarkefalonia.gr/en) run by the charming and unruffled Apostolis. It was perfect to escape all those airport interiors and queues by walking literally a minute away down a dappled lane dappled with trees.

Villa Rosa Kefalonia Greece

Southern Shores Of Kefalonia Greece

Within two weeks I was back! This time to the southern half, beneath her mountainous ridge, her bays of golden sand and her view of the neighbouring island of Zante.
The water is family-friendly as it slopes gradually to its depths under a smooth flooring of sand. The vivid colours of the blue sky, the Cézanne-style white rocks and brown earth all protrude in sharp, pronounced definition.

Rolls Royce Dawn at Château de Montmélian

Rolls Royce Dawn Luxury Tour Of French Chateaux

The Rolls Royce Dawn two-door convertible in Powder Blue is sleek, attractive and comfortable. The ideal car for a luxury tour of the Loire Valley, via Paris and Fontainebleau.

Rolls Royce are shedding their chauffeur-driven image, producing luxury tourers that are comfortable on long journeys. So I decided to test it with a thousand-mile plus drive across to France.

Everything was planned at the last minute as Covid restrictions in the UK were bouncing up and down faster than a bumbling Prime Minister caught on a zip wire.

The Five Best Sleeper Trains in Europe

The Five Best Sleeper Trains in Europe

There is an unassailable romance about travelling by sleeper trains in Europe. They call to mind the grand rail journeys of the past: Paul Theroux on the Iron Rooster or Kerouac’s drifters jumping freight trains in “On the Road.” Today’s rail journeys seem rather sterile in comparison, with once mysterious routes so well-trodden there is little left to say about them. But there are exceptions. Some sleeper trains still convey the sheer romance and glamour of embarking on a grand journey across a continent full of possibilities.

Palácio Belmonte Hotel Dining

Heritage is ‘home’ at the luxury Palácio Belmonte Hotel

An unassuming, anonymous and heavy-set red door separates a quaint cobbled courtyard, from an intimately historic foyer, embracing an almost monastic-like silence. As the door closes behind you, Lisbon’s bright morning sunshine is replaced by softer tones; the sensory contrast is immediate and welcome. This is one of many such contrasts that guests of the exquisite ‘Palácio Belmonte’ will experience during their stay.

World Heritage Preservation Experts 'Face-Off' In Prague

Prague, where the streets are a fantasia scarcely touched by the twenty-first century, was the setting for an international conference this summer for heritage preservation experts from around Europe along with private sector representatives, investors and architects of successful Czech heritage projects to discuss how heritage is looked after, who is responsible for buildings and monuments of significance as well as how to fundraise in order to maintain these assets over the long term.

Toyota Land Cruiser Invincible Road Test

Toyota Land Cruiser Invincible Road Test

The Toyota Land Cruiser is undoubtedly one of the most iconic 4x4’s that has ever been made. it's been in production for nearly 70 years and has a reputation for unparalleled reliability and durability.
If you're in any doubt as to just how strong and reliable Toyota’s Land Cruiser is, let me tell you about Emil and Liliana Schmid who in 1984 took their land cruiser on a bit of a journey, which led them across 186 different countries, covering nearly half a million miles, and as of 2017, they were still on this journey.
