America's Cup - Sir Ben Ainslie Inspires Comeback of the Year

Sir Ben Ainslie inspires one of the greatest comebacks in world sport.
In only the third time in the regatta's 162-year history, the competition was decided by a winner takes all final in what was to prove to be one of the most thrilling and unexpected events in world sport.
Oracle Team USA came close to defeat early on, going down 1-8 to New Zealand, the pre-Cup favourites, after being docked two points before the contest even began, but the holders won eight straight races to triumph 9-8 in a thrilling climax to the event.

The Billion Dollar Video Game

The Billion Dollar Video Game

If you weren't aware of the release of the latest instalment of the video game franchise Grand Theft Auto then I really have to ask the question, where on earth have you been?
GTA V is the most expensive video game ever assembled. Costing a reported £170 million to make, this game is all the evidence one would need to realise that today's video games mean bigger business than the pop world and even Hollywood.

Extreme Sailing Series 2013 - Cardiff

Extreme Sailing Series 2013 - Cardiff

Given the somewhat unexpected summer weather we have enjoyed here in the UK I was perhaps forgiven for not expecting this to be a typically blustery day in Cardiff, yet fun and excitement are always in abundance at this fantastic annual event.
2013 was the second year since Cardiff snatched the event away from Cowes, and the city certainly sees sailing as an important part of its sport and arts attractions. This year saw Land Rover as the main sponsor including a local team, Team Wales Land Rover, skippered by young Welsh sailor Dave Evans.

Tour of Britain 2013

Mark Cavendish takes the win on the cobbled high street of Guildford town centre, but Sir Wiggins seals the tour.

Now in its tenth edition The Tour of Britain is now the biggest professional cycle race in the country and this year concluded with a double success for British riders, a good standing for this increasingly cycle mad nation.

Goodwood Revival 2013

Goodwood Revival 2013

The words Glorious Goodwood have become synonymous with horse racing on the South Downs. In the minds of motor racing afficionados, they can equally be applied to their sport at the historic circuit at the foot of Trundle Hill.
Closed in 1966, the motor racing circuit assumed a new lease of life in 1998 when the Earl of March, after some huge battles, put on the first Revival Meeting. This was held over three days, with restricted entry to all those cars and motor bikes that had raced at the circuit between 1948 and 1966.

Selfridges, Business As Usual

Selfridges, Business As Usual

"Selfridges, business as usual"

Named after its founder, Harry Gordon Selfridge, Selfridge & Co opened its doors on Oxford Street on 15 March 1909. With his innate understanding of the value of publicity, Harry Gordon masterminded the elaborate opening advertising campaigns. The crush was so large it took thirty police officers to hold back the crowds. Breaking new ground in his newly adopted city, Harry Selfridge took to using a new name: Gordon. To his staff however, he was always The Chief.

The Flying Bentleys

In 1919, an engineering genius obsessed by speed, W.O. focused on his dream, creating a car bearing his name. That October the first Bentley engine came to life.
During the 1920’s Bentley went from strength to strength. Racing triumphs proved reliability, speed and incredible performance. These were the years of the Bentley Boys. Extraordinary adventures followed by extravagant victorious celebrations.
Five glorious Le Mans victories and a successful return in 2003 secured the sixth historical win.

Whether heading for the races at Ascot, the Grand Prix at Silverstone or just because you fancy lunch in Oxford, nothing says ‘hello’ more memorably than arriving by helicopter.
