CLEO TAKES ON CLARIDGES SPA FOR A DR BARBARA STURM FACIAL

CLEO TAKES ON CLARIDGES SPA FOR A DR BARBARA STURM FACIAL

International Excellence was invited to Claridges Spa to sample a Sturm Glow Facial created by Dr Barbara Sturm. This is her entry level facial, but an experience to enjoy for that regular maintenance and rejuvenation.

I began by enjoying the spa experience to the fullest. Arriving 30 mins prior to my appointment, I was shown into the dressing room and changed into my swimsuit and jumped straight into the sauna. Now yes it has been incredibly hot in London thus far, but prior to a facial opening the pores, starting the detox by sweating out the impurities is a must in my humble opinion.  I then had a cold shower and wandered out to the pool area to refresh and drink some much needed water- hydration is after all the key to almost everything!

I was called to the waiting area and offered ginger and lemon tea, which I enjoyed before being shown into the treatment room. The mood lighting is sensational and incredibly relaxing, as is the spa music which is not obtrusive but a nice delicate background noise. We started with a foot cleaning, which I always think helps to set the tone for remembering the face is also part of the body and clean feet just makes one feel fresh when getting into the heated bed. It mimics the new fresh sheets on the bed after a bath feeling and is to always be enjoyed.  The bed itself is raised under the knees for ultimate blood flow and heated with a duvet which was actually incredibly cosy. The ambiance and tone was calming and I was incredibly relaxed from the start.

The facial itself focuses on a cleanse and a steam and small extraction followed by the most wonderful massage. Again the massage is gentle but firm and gets the blood flowing and the stimulation of the lymphatic system moving. Really good to flush out the toxins and get the skin feeling fresh. It is also incredibly relaxing and I did almost fall asleep! Then we did a hydrating mask and whilst that was on my face, my therapist gave me a wonderful foot massage. I was honestly in heaven at this point. It was a Monday morning and the best way possible to start the week without a doubt.

Finally, we layered on the products, serums and face creams alongside the glow drops. I did find this a tad shiny, but I have to say I did look illuminated upon leaving.  I left the treatment room to enjoy some more tea and a hydration drink before changing and going back out into the real world… sigh… can I just move in? This is the facial to have if you want to truly relax and just refresh your tired skin,  especially if travelling and jet lagged. Although,a reminder to those with fresh botox- massage should be avoided for a few weeks after as it will lose its potency etc. All in all, Claridges, as one would expect is a wonderful spa, the staff are lovely, quiet yet knowledgeable and attentive without being obtrusive. I found it very calming and a great experience to recommend.
