Brexit Farce

Last-Minute Brexit Deal Won’t Save Shoppers From Increased Prices Next Year

Brits should make the most of EU bargains this Christmas, urges ParcelHero. The international delivery expert says that the bureaucracy and red tape involved in clearing customs next year will make the UK a far less competitive market for European Union (EU) traders. It believes that this will be the case even if an 11th-hour Brexit deal means there are no new duties to pay on goods arriving from Europe.

Guildford-What’s in a name?

Guildford-What’s in a name?

Yellow Metal - Water Crossing.
Perhaps not the most prestigious sounding of names; it sounds as though it could belong to a township in America’s sun-drenched south west, perhaps home to the ancestors of those who arrived from all over, desperate to seek their fortune in the famous Gold Rush of the mid-19th century.

Selfridges, Business As Usual

Selfridges, Business As Usual

"Selfridges, business as usual"

Named after its founder, Harry Gordon Selfridge, Selfridge & Co opened its doors on Oxford Street on 15 March 1909. With his innate understanding of the value of publicity, Harry Gordon masterminded the elaborate opening advertising campaigns. The crush was so large it took thirty police officers to hold back the crowds. Breaking new ground in his newly adopted city, Harry Selfridge took to using a new name: Gordon. To his staff however, he was always The Chief.

Napoleon called us a nation of shopkeepers – it’s a tradition we’re proud to uphold.

London’s most prestigious department stores and shopping streets – Bond Street, Sloane Street, Savile Row, Harrods, Liberty, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason, to name a few – are as familiar landmarks as Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London. But stick solely to the shops in the capital and you’ll miss some of the most interesting shopping experiences in the world.
