At last, people are now recognizing that Slovenia exists, not only that, the high quality of the experience which is complemented by stunning scenery is also recognized.  The catalyst was surely the introduction of a Slovenian Michelin Guide in 2020 that included a 3* restaurant from the start.  There are now nine-starred Michelin restaurants with a total of twelve stars and a total of 59 restaurants recommended.  Monaco has seven star restaurants with a total of eleven stars.

Having travelled to Budapest on numerous occasions since 1998, I still get that frisson of excitement when viewing one of the world’s great city panoramas from the window-seat of a yellow tram, which criss-cross the Danube River numerous times each day. Or indeed, aboard a sightseeing cruise boat, arguably the best way to admire Széchenyi Chain Bridge and the Liberty Statue on the Gellért Hill.

I challenge anyone who arrives not to be astonished by their dramatic entry into this historic city. No cars, just boats and water and arrestingly beautiful buildings. Venice has been a constant for me having visited over thirty times. Never is a revisit a repeat as there’s always something new to see. All worldly concerns vanish as I take part on this stunning stage.

Our adventure continued with a move to the Boutique Hotel Alhambra, a superb Belle Époque building fusing modern architectural folly with flamboyant colours and sculptural luxury. I was greeted each morning by the breathtaking view of the bay and the stately Villa Sea Princess Nika across the water. The hotel radiated a cosy ambience and unparalleled hospitality. The spaciousness of my room rivalled that of a country house, complete with an expansive bathroom featuring a grand bathtub and an immense shower area.

In 1978, the foundation stone was laid for what would become one of Salzburg's most beloved mountain resorts - Das Edelweiss. Spearheaded by Senior boss Peter Hettegger, this family-owned venture began as a small bed and breakfast with 14 rooms and a charming cafe.
