When it comes to cosmetic treatments, brows are quietly transformative. They change nothing, yet somehow change everything. And Nez Hasan is widely regarded as one of the best in the business.

Known for her natural, softly structured aesthetic, Nez has built a reputation as one of the most trusted microblading specialists in the UK. Her client list includes some of the most recognisable (and carefully groomed) faces in London - Emma Willis and Edward Enninful among them - and her name is often passed between those in the know.

I booked in for the full treatment: a bespoke microblading session, followed by the standard four-week top-up. The process is meticulous. Each appointment begins with careful facial mapping - Nez measures the contours and proportions of your face with forensic attention to detail, and starts assessing your brows the moment you walk in. “I begin analysing them as we talk,” she explains. “I look at which brow sits higher, which one looks shorter when someone’s speaking. That tells me a lot before we even start measuring.”

Once you’re on the bed, the precision begins in earnest. “I use a measuring tool to check the eye and nose level, then string to create a straight line and draw a box. I always try to stay within the client’s natural hair where I can. If I can draw within the brow hairs and brush them up to camouflage the tattoo, that’s ideal. That way it heals very naturally - no one would ever know they’ve had anything done.”

What sets Nez apart is her restraint. Her microblading isn’t about dramatic reshaping or bold statements. It’s about working with the face, not against it. “I never follow brow trends,” she says. “Only what suits each person. And my clients are the same - they come to me because they want something timeless, not trendy. Fuller, better brows that still look like their own.”

The colour-matching process is just as nuanced. “It’s a combination of the client’s natural brow colour, skin undertone, hair colour - especially if they change it - and what kind of healed result they want,” Nez tells me. “All pigments heal a little ashy, but skin undertones change how that looks. I might ask someone with red hair and freckles whether they want to match the tone or stay cooler. Most choose the ashy finish because it looks more natural.”

The treatment itself isn’t painless. The numbing cream helps, but you feel each stroke - sharp and deliberate as the pigment is deposited into the skin in fine lines designed to mimic natural hairs. It’s not comfortable, but it is bearable.

After the initial appointment, brows appear darker for a few days, then begin to soften and settle. A month later, the top-up perfects the shape and pigment retention. By then, the results are remarkably subtle - enhanced, fuller, yet impossible to detect as cosmetic work. No makeup, no harsh lines, just brows that feel like they’ve always been there.

Nez also trains professionals in advanced techniques and offers medical tattooing for clients dealing with hair loss, scarring or post-surgery restoration. The same attention to precision applies, but the emotional impact can be even greater.

It’s this combination of technical skill, aesthetic sensitivity and total discretion that explains her standing. There are more dramatic things you can do to your face, but few have the same impact as a perfectly judged brow. Nez knows exactly where that line is - and how to stop just short of crossing it.
