Summer Beauty Trends

With the arrival of Spring comes a new optimism.  Colour is everywhere and sometimes not where you would expect to find it.  It's all about being bold. At the Spring/Summer 2017 show season splashes of colour were seen on the hands, ears and beneath the jawline.
SKIN IS IN
While all of us may not be that brave, there are things you can do to prepare your skin for summer by cleansing, exfoliating and using one of the many sheet masks available. My favourites are by Tony Moly for moisturising, brightening or pore care.
Skin needs to breathe in summer so try a BB cream or a CC cream instead of foundation. CC has more coverage but they both contain SPF (sun protection factor). This season the trend for skin is shiny, not glossy.
GO BRONZE
For a sun-kissed sheeny complexion sweep bronzer over your cheeks and eyes.  And good news for fair skin, freckles are fashionable.  Some people even went as far as having them tattooed with henna to last a few days.
BOLD BLUSH
Strong blush has also been featured in the runway shows.  Start high on the cheeks and blend upwards towards the temples and hairline, softening onto the apples of the cheeks.
COLOUR CODED EYES
A sweep of colour just above the eyelids and beneath the brow bone is a big trend this season. I call it the high eye line. The good news is that the line doesn't have to be perfect. In fact the more imperfect the better. Another big eyeliner trend was underneath the lower lashes in bold bright colours. Use an eyeliner pencil and add the same coloured eyeshadow powder on top to last all day.
Lower lids took centre stage on the red carpet. Use a soft highlighter to add dimension in the centre underneath the eyes. Match with a clear lip gloss.
Brows stay big and bushy. To fill in sparse brows, try a brow mascara. Alternatively, brush through brows with your brightest eyeshadow using a clean mascara wand.
Summer lip trends were in soft matt berry colours or just a hint of coral/wine coloured gloss in the centre of the lips. In that case leave skin natural and forget about mascara.
Lastly try out the colour of the season, Pantone Greenery.  A beauty tip I recommend is to add gloss in the centre of the eyelids for mystery and shine.
