Wymara Resort & Villas Review – Turks and Caicos Luxury Stay
Where Caribbean calm meets contemporary edge on Grace Bay’s best stretch of sand
Wymara Resort & Villas
Set the scene
Just 15 minutes from Providenciales airport, at the quiet end of Grace Bay, Wymara Resort + Villas stands out for its modern minimalist styling. When you arrive your eye is drawn to the central palm-tree lined infinity pool and the white-sand beach and turquoise sea beyond. It’s a view that Caribbean dreams are made of.
The vibe
Wymara does relaxed glamour with a light hand. There’s no DJ booth by the pool or pressure to dress for dinner, but the energy is unmistakably polished. Guests glide barefoot between pool loungers and beach cabanas; a few families linger over fresh coconuts while couples order rosé without checking the clock. Days begin with slow barefoot strolls along the surf and end with aperitifs at the open-air beachside Pink bar. Service is warm but unfussy. Staff glide in and out of view with drinks, towels, or genuinely helpful suggestions.
The rooms
There isn’t a dud room here: all 95 rooms are dressed in white-on-white, with cool tile floors, superking sized beds, and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with light. However, it’s the oceanfront suites that deliver the full fantasy: balconies wide enough for sun salutations, open-plan layouts with uninterrupted sea views, and soaking tubs positioned so you can watch the sun sink into the Atlantic as you unwind. Everything feels considered; the Bluetooth bedside speaker comes with USB charging to plug in your phone without needing to worry about adaptors, the toiletries are Australian brand Aesop and the hairdryers are super speedy Dysons.
The villas
For guests travelling with family or in need of more seclusion, the villas set along the rugged limestone cliffs of Turtle Tail are the place to stay. These sleek white-washed holiday homes provide a Caribbean escape for the jet set. Each villa has outdoor dining and lounging areas, private infinity pools and swim platforms that drop straight into the sea – some even have water slides. Interiors are understated and stylish with the floor-to-ceiling windows on the view the dominant feature. Villa guests get an exclusive sports club complete with the only 25-metre lap pool on the island, tennis courts, steam room and sauna with complimentary shuttles to the main resort for beachside ceviche or a sunset massage.
The food and drink
This is where Wymara quietly overdelivers. Indigo, the main restaurant, puts the island’s produce front and centre – sustainably harvested Turks lobster, local greens, beef tenderloin carpaccio – all served in an airy covered courtyard. The beachfront spot, Blue Water Bistro, leans towards more casual dining – barefoot lunches of spicy shrimp tacos or jerk chicken wraps taken metres from the surf or weekly Caribbean barbecues. A new addition –Land+Sea – is a waterfront restaurant at Sunset Cove close to the Villas where American seafood grill and steakhouse favourites are served with a Caribbean twist. Breakfast is a lavish buffet – the banana bread is borderline addictive.
Facilities
Wymara isn’t sprawling, but what it offers is considered. A small spa delivers treatments with proper technique using high-end and effective 111 Skin products; a sleek gym shaded by palms caters to the fitness fanatics and snorkels are a must for exploring the nearby reef which teems with fish. Wellness offerings include sound bath healing and beach yoga on the soft white sand. For a more challenging experience, try the Pool-Lates, which involves attempting a downward dog on a tethered paddleboard in the lap pool.
Eco credentials
Sustainability here doesn’t feel tacked on. Plastic is out, glass bottles are in, and refillable carafes of filtered water are standard in every room. Room keys are wooden, vanity products come wrapped in paper, bath products are in full-sized bottles. Solar power is used for the restaurants. The hotel partners with the Turks and Caicos Reef Fund, supports local farming initiatives, and most of its staff are from the island – a fact that plays out in the warm, grounded service throughout the property.
