Lexus RZ 300e Takumi 2026 Review Effortless Luxury, Style and Electric Refinement in Wiltshire
Wiltshire Roads, Cold Mornings & Electric Surprises
Wiltshire Roads, Cold Mornings & Electric Surprises
Some cars reward discretion. Others demand to be seen, preferably somewhere scenic, with good tarmac and an audience that understands what they are looking at. The Porsche Macan 4S Electric falls very firmly into the latter category. It is far too resolved, far too handsome, and frankly far too confident to be hidden away. So a few colleagues and I took it exactly where it belonged, across the Sussex Downs, through the Surrey Hills, and eventually into central London, where elegance is judged ruthlessly and patience is optional.
Audi S6 Avant E-Tron Launch Edition – Review in the Grand Touring Style
Audi claims the S6 Avant E-Tron will waft you up to 384 miles on a single charge. Naturally, we decided to test that with a civilised jaunt from Guildford to Norwich and back again — 325 miles in one sitting, no recharging, no fuss, just the quiet purr of electrons and the smug glow of not visiting a petrol station. Touring in style, as always.
The Porsche Taycan GTS Turismo is a four-door, four to five-seat electric estate that combines the best of both worlds, top-tier handling and space. A GTS label means it's going to be just a little bit special and sporty, but how good is the electric GTS really?
We took it up to Bath, then along the Sussex coast for a little paragliding session. All to see how it fared on long journeys, and whether we could learn to stop worrying about range and love an electric Porsche, to paraphrase Dr Strangelove.
The Audi e-tron GT is a razor-sharp katana on 20-inch wheels, with a hint of Iron Man's mask. Interesting as we first saw this car driven by Tony Stark in Avengers: End Game. The first electric car that achieves supercar beauty. The Vorsprung Durch Technik designers have smashed this out of the park and straight into the future.
Colour me surprised as the Polestar 2 is dropped off at my garage. It is actually a good-looking animal. A solid, relatively low SUV come hatchback with sharp, carved haunches. It has a certain presence.
We toured around Surrey to fully appreciate its capabilities, taking in a very fine Gastro pub along the way, the Victoria Oxshott.
We prefer to test cars in actual situations so that we get more than just an idea of their technical capabilities, but also what they are like to live with. So we took the latest Tesla Y Performance for a 3000-mile round trip from Surrey to just south of Valencia, Spain in less than a week. The preparations were left to the last minute as usual and we were a little stressed as to how the whole recharging process would go over such a long distance. However, we were more than pleasantly surprised at how well the Tesla Y performed. Spoiler, there was absolutely no range anxiety at all.
