The Ivy Collection launched the Ivy Castle View in Guildford last week in the newly refurbished Tunsgate Quarter overlooking Guildford Castle, bringing a whole new level of dining to Guildford and about time too.
The discreet entrance is on the corner by the stairs facing the castle, where you are warmly greeted by a smart receptionist and shown up the two fights of stairs to the main restaurant. There you are attended by three equally smart receptionists who greet you by name and make sure that a fourth takes your coat.

We combined great British automotive design, classic British luxury hotels, Michelin starred restaurants, sky diving and country scenery in a five day extravaganza.

The River Wey has burst its banks in spectacular fashion over the festive period, leaving bridges and car-parks cordoned off by police as the water levels reached heights not seen for decades. Employees of Guildford Borough Council, hoping to down desk related tools early for Noël, sat helpless in their Millmead offices as they watched the River Wey knock on the front door wishing one and all a very soggy Christmas. Shoppers hoping to use Bedford Road car park were turned away unless they had sensibly arrived in a row boat and waders.

Luxury Shopping
With Christmas nearly upon us it’s time to head to Guildford, the “luxury shopping capital of the UK”.
Guildford, as with most town centres, is gearing up for its busiest time of year; the countdown has begun to Christmas.
The difference being that this year if you head to this beautiful and historic county town of Surrey, to stock up on stocking fillers and treat your loved ones to gorgeous gifts, you can be safe in the knowledge that you will be shopping in the “luxury shopping capital of the UK”.
