If you ride all year round, you will no doubt have your riding gear well-sorted. There's nothing worse than being wet, freezing and cold but you still have miles to go. 

We started our journey in Surrey at 9 am and headed north, basking in the explosive snorts of the 710 bhp McLaren 720S engine. My colleague David and I were pretty stoked about a week in the Scottish Highlands. As Lex Luthor so aptly condescended in Superman II "A good time? Is that all you care about? North, Miss Teschmacher. North!".

Why do we ride motorcycles? I ride because it’s an adventure. It makes me feel good, stirs my soul and makes me happy. I don’t even mind what I ride or where, I just love riding.

BMW Motorrad was kind enough to loan me one of their R18 cruisers for a couple of weeks, so I took advantage and made some memories. 

This year I made the return to Shark. 

For the past few years, I've bounced around helmet brands, mostly wearing an AGV flip front. However, 2022 saw the return to Shark. 

With 180PS (177.6 bhp) on tap and 125Nm of torque, the tiny, agile Triumph Speed Tripple 1200RR might not be the logical choice for a winter ride.

The Audi e-tron GT is a razor-sharp katana on 20-inch wheels, with a hint of Iron Man's mask. Interesting as we first saw this car driven by Tony Stark in Avengers: End Game. The first electric car that achieves supercar beauty. The Vorsprung Durch Technik designers have smashed this out of the park and straight into the future. 

These days I generally ride in jeans and a jacket. I find it comfortable and like the way it looks and with modern technology being employed, it still provides good protection.

I’ve used a few brands and styles of jeans but am currently wearing Furygan K11 X Kevlar Jeans and loving them.

When Ducati first released details of the Desert X, I presumed it would be a styling exercise based on an existing platform; Multistrada perhaps. How wrong was I?

I’ve only managed a brief 45-minute ride so far, so this is just my initial thoughts and some technical details.

As I rolled into the car park at Caffeine and Machine, I was positively glowing. The drive there in the racing yellow Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS was superb, the sun was shining and all was well in the world. This is a fantastic driver's car with incredible performance but unlike RS Audis and the like, there’s a connection that has been honed and nurtured over generations. The visceral nature of the 911 driving experience is something truly special in these days of overly electronically muted cars.

In recent times I've taken to wearing more casual riding gear. Riding in casual gear is more comfortable than race boots and full leathers but still offers good levels of protection.
