La Rosiere
Variety is the spice of life and an invitation to ski at La Rosiere, a French resort that had never featured on my radar, was irresistible. Lots of familiar names around: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, Aosta Valley, and in sight across the valley: Val d’Isere so there were obviously good prospects.
Whistler sets a standard that many other ski resorts have to match; right up there with Aspen and some European resorts but for very different reasons. The main concern for many is the flight; eleven hours but you do not lose skiing time as it is overnight and you are chasing the sun outbound. Passing through Vancouver airport is quick and the transfer is less than two hours to Whistler, the roads are good and it’s worth keeping awake for the stunning scenery.
As ever, in the wake of 12 months passing we’re left with little to do other than reflect on what’s been, and look to the future. The latter of the two appealing more given the rather generous UK Box Office release schedule cinemagoers are now faced with.

Where and what was your childhood like?
I was fifth born in a Parsee family of six. My father had qualified as an English solicitor, who had returned to India after qualifying in London and commenced his own practice in Mumbai. I went to a Jesuit school in Mumbai.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Clinton, Tennessee, a small town of 3,000 residents at the foothills of the Smokey Mountains.
How did you start in the industry?
The RAC of Australia have come up with a unique approach to tackle road deaths due to inattention. The Attention Powered Car. This car requires you to wear a headset that monitors your brain activity, blink rate, gaze rate and eye movement, effectively measuring if you are paying attention or not.
If the driver’s brain activity is low the car will slow down until the driver starts to pay attention again.
Until now I have never really considered myself a petrolhead, however I must admit that since purchasing my 'new' car, I am as they say 'in love'. The car in question? An Alfa Romeo GTV.
One must always ask the question when buying one of these fine automobiles, should I spend my money on something which is deemed so unreliable?

A quick flight from London City Airport took me to Billund, Denmark, the home of Lego. Legoland was shut that day, however I was here to look at some beautifully engineered, chrome and gold motorbikes rather than the bestselling interlocking plastic bricks and their theme park.

Perhaps not the most prestigious sounding of names; it sounds as though it could belong to a township in America’s sun-drenched south west, perhaps home to the ancestors of those who arrived from all over, desperate to seek their fortune in the famous Gold Rush of the mid-19th century.
