A Visit to a Leading Italian Builder of Fast Yachts
300kph in a car; few people even motoring journalists have achieved that speed.  A few more will have travelled at 50+ knots in a power boat.  However, only a small minority will have travelled at that speed in a comfortable cruising motor yacht, doubtless with a glass of something good like champagne to hand.  Perhaps it is a case of more fizz in the yacht than in the champagne?

The world’s best places to mix and meet with the highest profile glitterati are the most fashionable European and North American ski resorts. The skiing experience aboard is a rather different experience in any one of the very top resorts. Any person you talk to on a ski lift could well be featured in a magazine you read whether it is on business, fashion or simply gossip.
 

The Monaco Yacht Show was in fine fettle this year; those working with the largest yachts possessed the biggest smiles.  The aristocrats of the seas were all there with some extraordinarily fine yachts: Royal Huisman, Feadship and Lurssen included.  Joining in that league this year was Oceanco with the largest yacht in the show: the motor yacht ‘Equanimity’ at 91.5 m.  Her technical specification is taken to new heights from Ice Class 1E to the very demanding Passenger Yacht Code – the first superyacht to do so.

Phil Jones, otherwise known as the Podge Father talks to International eXCellence Magazine about the brilliant Podge lunches he founded 20 years ago for leaders in the fields of sport, media, digital and now music. The Podge lunches are brilliant events with fascinating people where fun and enjoyment come first. It's worth attending simply for the pleasure of meeting the founder Phil Jones who is a London legend (albeit a Mancunian).

The 2014 BCYC Panerai Regatta starts this week and it is worth remembering how the BCYC started just over a decade ago in 2002 and the core values we represent.

The weekend of the longest day of the year was one marked by a new BCYC regatta in Dartmouth that went off with a wonderful flourish, in light airs, sunshine and racing organised by Royal Dart Yacht Club. This inaugural event with 22 yachts saw Rubicon carry off the Cetewayo Trophy for best placed BCYC boat.
Meanwhile in the Solent thirteen BCYC yachts took part in the RIR, in what turned out to be a long but fascinating sail.

The Panerai British Classic Week which is part of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge is the other big sailing event that International eXcellence Magazine never misses. It is the classic yacht event of the year and takes place on the Solent in Cowes. Though true aficionados follow it in every gorgeous location all over the world: Antigua, Antibes, Argentina, Napoli, Nantucket, Barcelona, Newport and Cannes.

The two big sailing events in British waters this summer are undoubtedly the Extreme sailing Series with the Extreme 40 Catamarans and the Panerai British Classic Week, part of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge.
Both very different races but with many things in common, they engender great passion from the participants and, unusual for sailing events, are exhilarating, exciting and fun for all to enjoy.
