At 590 ft, project Azzam will be around 57 ft longer than the current largest private yacht ‘Eclipse’ and is estimated to cost around $622 million to build.

The 2012 edition of Panerai British Classic Week, an annual highlight of the global regatta calendar, saw a record entry of 83 yachts. Following a week a celebration and exciting competition, Jap claimed the regatta's prestigious Panerai British Classic Week Racing Trophy and a beautiful Officine Panerai timepiece. Held annually in Cowes, the historic home of British yachting, the event has been sponsored for the past three years by high-end watch brand Panerai and forms part of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge global regatta circuit.

Ten yachts attended the inaugural BCYC regatta held in Cowes, July 2002, marking the start of an annual regatta which has continued to grow in size and popularity. What started as a long weekend of informal racing has now grown to a week long regatta of rallying and racing split into many classes. In 2006 40 yachts ranging in size from the 31ft International 5 Metre, Sensa, to the 95ft J Samuel White Bermudan ketch, Berenice, attended the regatta coming from all over the UK & Europe. By 2011, over 60 Yachts, racing in four divisions, were joined by a growing fleet of cruisers.

Sailing yacht owners will experience three days of racing in the prime sailing conditions of the BVI, expertly organized by the international race committee at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda under the IRC rating system. There will be a fleet start for the racing division and a pursuit start for the cruising division. Divisions and classes may be adapted to accommodate the diversity of the fleet.
