Simon West is the celebrated British director of big budget action movies such a Con Air, The Incredibles 2, The General's Daughter, Tomb Raider and The Mechanic amongst others. He has worked with a stellar cast of Hollywood actors, such as Bruce Willis, Angelina Jolie, Sylvestor Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nicolas Cage, John Malkovich, John Cusack, Jason Statham and many more.

International eXcellence Magazine was invited to play in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open Pro Am with Ian Poulter, as part of the launch of Ballantines new online golf club presenting Ian as the new club Captain.
I spent the weekend before the Pro Am at the driving ranges at Hoebridge and Broadwater, two lovely little Surrey clubs and my golf was in pretty good shape. Mind you I was going to be playing on a tough course with one of the top 25 golfers in the world!

Aston Martin teamed up with engineering group Prodrive in 2004 to get Aston Martin back into racing with the DBR9 and they have been very very successful promoting some of the best driving talent around such as Darren Turner. They also have Bruno Senna, David Hannson, Pedro Lamy and Alex MacDowall on the team! Darren Turner won the Le Mans in 2007 and in 2008, a celebrated double . Aston Martin has also been a major presence at the Nürburgring, Spa and Silverstone this year with Darren on the podium for the 6 Hours of Silverstone.

In today’s “celebrity culture”, images of famous people are inescapable, staring back at us from the covers of glossy magazines to the clothes we wear. In a country where there is no such concept as image rights, is it possible to run foul of the law when using famous faces to endorse your products? Alan Ma investigates with reference to a recent High Court case.

 
The use of commercial agents to negotiate sales is a common phenomenon in the luxury industry. If an agent to a luxury property buyer takes a bribe or secret commission, does the principal have a proprietary or merely a personal claim against him? Dr Alan Ma finds the answer in a recent Supreme Court case.

As venues go one would be hard pressed to beat the surroundings of the 5-star May Fair Hotel in the heart of London’s West End just a stones throw from Bond Street and Piccadilly. This historic 406-room hotel located on Stratton Street was first opened in 1927 by King George V and Queen Mary in attendance. A plaque in the foyer records the event.
 

The 2014 BCYC Panerai Regatta starts this week and it is worth remembering how the BCYC started just over a decade ago in 2002 and the core values we represent.

The weekend of the longest day of the year was one marked by a new BCYC regatta in Dartmouth that went off with a wonderful flourish, in light airs, sunshine and racing organised by Royal Dart Yacht Club. This inaugural event with 22 yachts saw Rubicon carry off the Cetewayo Trophy for best placed BCYC boat.
Meanwhile in the Solent thirteen BCYC yachts took part in the RIR, in what turned out to be a long but fascinating sail.

IS - I enjoyed maths at school. I had a wonderful maths teacher who
spent lots of his free time showing a few of us interesting maths outside the syllabus. I also read Martin Gardner's column in Scientific American regularly.
