Le Quartier Français - Pool Area

Leeu Estates in South Africa are a Wine Connoisseur's Dream

Bedtime and afternoon reading by the pool and spa lily pond at the luxurious Leeu Estates in South Africa’s culinary capital, Franschhoek, was “Moments of Mindfulness", an anthology of African wisdom collected and curated by Danielle and Olivier Follini.

It was left in my room.  And it left a lasting impression.

Like the five-star, Western Cape Province hotel, it calmed the senses and prepared the soul to receive simple teachings. As taught by Africa and Africans.  Relax. Don’t fret. Keep a cool heart and remain patient.

The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa, With 1012 Reasons To Stay

The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa, With 1012 Reasons To Stay

The smiles struck me first.
Sunshine smiles, happy-to-see-you smiles, there’s-such-a-treat-awaiting-you smiles.
Greetings as heartwarming as the jasmine tea brought to us as we checked in, followed by the pop and bubble of champagne because, why not?
Before we’d even stepped into our superior suite at Cape Town’s The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa, I knew I was going to find it very hard to leave.

A Grand Tour of South Africa's Western Cape: Food and Wine

A Grand Tour of South Africa's Western Cape: Food and Wine

As a culinary destination Southern Africa is not only stimulating but offers some of the finest hotels, food and wine experiences going, in some of the most beautiful surroundings.  The lovely Cape Dutch architecture, some dating back to the 1600s with their period charm set in what are essentially English inspired gardens have every desirable luxury.  On offer are also tempting spas, friendly and attentive service, and every activity you could possibly wish for from great diving, whales and dolphins, boat trips, horse riding including Polo, together with excellently organised Safaris.

A Grand Tour of Southern Africa: Soft Adventure

A Grand Tour of Southern Africa: Soft Adventure

Part One: South Eastern; Soft Adventure
Southern Africa offers so much and we wanted an extended journey of indulgence experiencing the best hotels with fining dining and fine wines, but we also wanted some soft  adventure.   This feature covers the soft adventure aspects but there was no compromise necessary on the comfort aspects.
