The Gunton Arms Norfolk Review

The Gunton Arms Norfolk Review

It is strange to compare a couple of points with two very different areas; Norfolk and France’s Alsace.  Neither is really on the way to anywhere so it is peaceful and most roads are uncrowded, but both have a few touristic centres which have rather too many people visiting in the high season.  I would add that both have some stunning scenery and other interesting features which make them both very desirable areas to visit.

Loch Lomond Whisky Single Malt Tasting

Loch Lomond Whisky Single Malt Tasting

Loch Lomond Whisky is a Highland single malt distillery in Alexandria, Scotland. The master blender is Michael Henry, who created the selection of single malt, single grain and blended whiskies under the guidance of renowned master blender John Peterson.
The distillery uses cylindrical copper pot stills that permit production of alcohol at a higher ABV than usual, up to 90% ABV. This allows a wide range of flavours that can be selected to produce the final single malt.

Flaine Ski Resort: Daring To Be Different

Flaine Ski Resort: Daring To Be Different

Flaine is the Vivian Westwood of ski resorts; so it was away with the expected Alpine style which has become so hackneyed across the Alps that it can be suffocating.  Flaine’s style is certainly challenging; conceived in the 1960s, in the era of ‘Brutalist’ architecture which has been so derided by the general public, but loved by minimalist architects and Guardian readers.  Many Brutalist buildings have now been demolished but there is now an undercurrent of recognition for the best of the era.  Flaine, the original part is called Flaine Forum has embraced the movement and has preservation

Holiday Makeup

Holiday Makeup

I’m always torn on holiday. Half of me wants to pack the kitchen sink, get glammed up to the nines and hit the town, the other half of me wants to kick back, wear my scruffiest, most comfortable clothes, let my hair go au naturel and not bother with a scrap of make up. Over the years I’ve found a happy medium on all fronts, (it’s good to switch off and relax, but that wardrobe of beautiful clothes aren't going to take themselves out you know) and found a snappy make up routine that literally takes about a minute, thanks to some really hard working products.

The Future Of Urban Transport-Quarterre Studio

The Future Of Urban Transport-Quarterre Studio

As a multi-disciplinary design studio working within this field, we are discovering that more of our attention is focused on this issue. Based in Clerkenwell, within central London, we are constantly experiencing the social and environmental impact of overcrowding, congestion and high levels of pollution. These are only set to rise with global warming and the increasing migration within cities, widely predicted to be two thirds of the world population by 2030*.

Film Review: Revolution - New Art For A New World

Film Review: Revolution - New Art For A New World

As Albert Einstein once said: “The Revolution introduced me to art, and in turn, art introduced me to the Revolution!”. Indeed, much the same could be said for the Russian Revolution of 1917, the 100th anniversary of which is being marked by the BBC this November with range of TV and radio broadcasts in a Russia-themed season.
While BBC Four delves into the art, architecture and music of the period, a selection of commissioned programmes examine this significant historical event and its continued impact on society.
