It wants to be your workhorse and while putting it through its paces in and around the Cotswolds, I fell rather hard for it.

The BMW 5 series is widely regarded as being the key stakeholder when it comes to executive driving. It just sort of materialises like a very well-dressed civil servant who’s read the briefing, made a cup of tea and is waiting for you to catch up. It doesn’t shout because it doesn’t need to. Touring in the Touareg, a pleasing bit of alliteration, is surprisingly comfortable. However, one cannot help but raise a quizzical eyebrow. It is undeniably striking, possessing a visual gravitas that rivals the Audi I recently reviewed. Has Volkswagen, in its apparent wisdom, decided to engage in a form of sibling rivalry? As if the automotive landscape were not already a complex tapestry of challenges.

Now though, with the unveiling of the new Morgan Supersport, the Worcestershire-based manufacturer presents its boldest interpretation of this ethos yet. The new Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the finest off-road vehicles ever made—even when compared to top-specced luxury off-roaders. Born as the Toyota BJ on 1 August 1951, it made history by conquering Mount Fuji’s sixth station. Renamed in 1954, it has since become Toyota’s longest-running model, with over 11.3 million sold across 170+ countries.

BYD is a major Chinese company that is really making a splash in the electric vehicle world. They don't just make cars and buses, they also produce batteries and solar panels. They are a one stop shop for green transportation and energy solutions. Their name is an acronym that stands for "Build Your Dreams", which is a pretty ambitious motto, but they seem to be living up to it.

We embarked on a quest to find a challenge worthy of the Toyota Hilux Invincible. We needed an adventure that would make it sweat… or at least mildly perspire.
