Furygan Leather - Pro One Jacket / Raptor Pant Evo
In recent years I’ve been wearing textiles pretty much all the time. If it’s sunny or at least dry, I’ll wear a textile jacket and jeans, if it’s wet full textiles.
In my younger years, I always wore leathers, usually one piece. I was considerably thinner and younger then and as the years and kg’s rolled on, I gravitated towards textiles, it’s just easier and more practical.
A couple of disadvantages with textiles are that they don’t offer as much abrasion resistance as leathers and that you can’t do any track work in them. You need leathers to go on track. I really fancy getting back on track, so to prepare for this I needed some leathers.
There are lots of manufacturers to choose from, one-piece, two-piece, wild colours or simple.
I wanted good quality with good protection, a simple design and a two-piece that was affordable, so opted for the Furygan Pro One Leather Jacket paired with Furygan Raptor Pant Evo trousers. It was an easy choice, I really like the Furgan brand. The quality is excellent and the Pro One jacket/Raptor pant evo combination looked great. Sizes available EU 36 – 50 / UK 26 - 40
The Furygan Pro One Leather Jacket is a high-quality, stylish, and protective motorcycle jacket. It is made from 1.2 to 1.4 mm thick, high-quality, grained cowhide leather, ensuring great resistance to abrasion.
The jacket has a huge amount of in-built technology and safety; from styling to the selection of materials, to laboratory tests in the motion lab. Years of testing and development have led to the choices that are made today, to ensure we have the best-looking, best-performing garments available.
Furygan’s Pro One jacket has high tenacity bi-stretch inserts for optimal mobility when you’re on the bike, morpho-stretch inserts, gusset behind shoulders and elbows, neoprene inserts at collar and cuffs, triple seams, a lightweight breathable fixed lining and external TPU shoulder shells.
You have CE-certified D3O shoulder and elbow armour included and pockets for optional Furygan level 2 D3O® "Full Back Fury" back protector and D3O® “LNR” chest protectors.
The design of the Pro One allows mobility without compromising on protection, thanks to high-quality leather coupled with high-tenacity bi-stretch inserts.
The connection zip is compatible with all Furygan trousers, in textile or leather. The zips are delivered complete so that they can be sewn onto NO-compatible products.
You have 4 pockets; 2 exterior and 2 interior (wallet pockets), plus waist adjustment tabs for a precise adjustment. Gussets behind the shoulders and on the elbows provide increased comfort and mobility when riding.
Furygan Raptor Evo Leather motorcycle trousers is a AAA Ce-Approved, high-quality, stylish, and protective pair of motorcycle trousers, made from soft, full-grain waterproof treated leather cowhide leather, which is supple and durable. The pant has a fixed satin Internal technical lining. Made from Colon, a material designed to maximize breathability and moisture absorption, for enhanced comfort.
These trousers have the best of Furygan racing technology and feature CE-certified D3O Knee and hip armour which provides the best protection in the event of a crash. The cut is a slightly more relaxed fit and there are high-tenacity bi-stretch inserts that make them comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
You have two connecting zips, one short and one full length, sewn on an elastic band and endurance Furygan sliders for a soft feeling but long durability.
The Rapton Evo trousers are very comfortable, easy to wear and obviously offer the highest levels of protection. The sizes are accurate, even a bit generous, and the fit is great.
You just can’t beat a good set of leather for protection, add in comfort and style and you’ve got the Furygan Pro One Leather Jacket and Raptor Evo leather motorcycle trousers.
The trousers are available in sizes EU 40 - 50 / 32" - 42"
Ruroc Atlas 4.0 Carbon Joker
Since last summer we've had a Ruroc Atlas 4.0 Carbon Joker on test. My lad has been wearing it mostly, he passed his CBT and thanks to the excellent marketing and distinctive design, his first choice was a Ruroc.
The 4.0 is ECE 22.06 Approved: This is a big deal. It means the Atlas 4.0 meets the strictest safety standards currently available, with tougher impact zones and tests for rotational acceleration to minimize brain injuries. As a rider, that gives you serious peace of mind.
We have the Carbon version which is super lightweight and strong, it offers great impact protection. The carbon fiber shell also helps to make this a light helmet, which means its more comfortable, especially on long rides.
RHEON™ Liner: This is Ruroc's special sauce. It's a liner with a fancy fluid inside that absorbs impact better than traditional materials. Think of it as an extra layer of protection for your head. This is the first road helmet to feature this technology.
Quiet Ride: They've revamped the ventilation system on the 4.0 to make this their quietest helmet yet and you can fine-tune the two front vents to let in just the right amount.
You can't deny Ruroc makes stylish helmets. They are instantly recognisable due to the distinctive shape, particularly the chin bar.
That said, I have a big nose and the only criticism I have is that my nose just about touches the chin bar
The Atlas 4.0 comes in a variety of colors and graphics, so you can look good while you ride. If you want to stand out and make a statement, their Marvel and Star Wars themed designs are pretty outrageous. My lads helmet is the Joker, one of the most outrageous designs, in my opinion. Probably my favourite design is the Boba Fett, it's evocative and takes me back to my youth.
Optional Bluetooth: The helmet itself doesn't have built-in Bluetooth, but you can buy their Shockwave™ insert to add music, calls, and navigation. It's fitted to ours and it's a great addition. The buttons are at the rear edge of the helmet, fidly at first, simple with practice.
Ours came with a Pinlock anti-fog insert and dark visor and both are great accessories, essential I'd say.
With a short summer and a long, cold, wet winter under it's belt, the Atlas 4.0 has done well. I had to repossess if briefly to give it a bit of a service. The padding is all removable and only takes seconds to remove, so after a wash and reassembly it was in tip top condition again.
The Ruroc Atlas 4.0 Carbon is a solid, safe helmet with some good tech features. It's lightweight and has ECE 22.06 rating. In the SHARP test it scored a solid 4 stars.
If you're looking to make a statement and look good doing it, and you want a safe and strong helmet, check out the Ruroc range.
Sizing: They have a wide range of sizes from XS to XL/XXL, which is good. Finding a proper fit is crucial for safety and comfort.
Furygan Cordoba Motorcycle Gloves
Gloves have a big impact on our riding. I’ve worn gloves that simply did not fit properly making them uncomfortable. The wrong gloves in the wrong conditions leave you with sweaty hands and you can’t get them back on after you stop, or wet and cold hands in the rain. Gloves are one of the most important pieces of kit.
This summer (if you can call it that) I’ve been wearing the Furygan Cordoba gloves in black. They are mid-season motorcycle gloves, designed for comfort and protection, made from a combination of leather, polyester, and Ripstop material, making them durable and abrasion-resistant. The gloves also have a waterproof and breathable membrane to keep your hands dry in wet weather.
The Cordoba gloves have a number of cool features that make them a good choice for all-year-round riding. They have a reinforced leather palm and little finger for impact protection, and a metacarpal shell protector to protect your hands. The Furygan Cordoba gloves also have a palm slider to help reduce the risk of Scaphoid fractures if the worst happens.
In terms of comfort, the Cordoba gloves have a neoprene inner cuff which helps prevent drafts, and a large wrist closure to give a perfect fit. The neoprene is great when you are dry, but is annoying when it’s damp. They also have Furygan Sensitive inserts that allow touchscreen use without removing your gloves. This works really well, even on a smartphone.
Overall, the Furygan Cordoba gloves are a good choice for riders who are looking for a comfortable and protective mid-season glove. They are well-made, feature a good level of protection, and are comfortable to wear. Gloves will always be a compromise; I have some great winter gloves that are completely waterproof and heated, but they are bulky and heavy. I also have some lightweight summer gloves, but they don’t offer much in the way of weather protection, and on a cool summer evening your hands get pretty cold. These Cordoba gloves offer a great balance of weather protection and hand protection and they look great in this colour. Who knew mid-season leather gloves with a lining and membrane could be so flexible?
I find that when I take them off, if my hands are damp or sweaty, or the gloves are wet, it’s hard to get them back on. I find them a little tight to get anything other than a dry hand in there. Then again, I have farmers' hands with fat fingers, so a slimmer hand would be absolutely fine.
Overall, the Furygan Cordoba gloves are a good choice for riders who are looking for a comfortable and protective mid-season glove. They are well-made, feature a good level of protection, and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
In summary; The durable and abrasion-resistant construction and the waterproof and breathable membrane mean they offer a good level of protection from a potential spill or from the weather. The gloves are comfortable to wear and are touchscreen compatible, and they look great.
Vulcanet - Make Life Easy
The days are getting lighter and the weather is getting warmer - Spring is on the way! It’s the perfect time to give your bike some TLC and prepare for the riding season ahead.
I’ve been using Vulcanet’s waterless wipes for a few weeks now. They’re so easy to use and give a great finish.
Vulcanet wipes come as a kit; you have a tube with microfibre cloth, and the wipes themselves. You simply unscrew the lid of the tub, pull out a wipe and work section-by-section until all the dust and debris has gone; then buff to a high shine using the microfibre cloth.
Save time cleaning, and make more time for riding!
How does it work?
Vulcanet’s waterless wipes work to liquefy the dirt and dust easily thanks to the textile weave which has a spiral shape with bevelled edges that collect the dirt and help to remove the stubborn dirt particles. Once collected by the wipe, the dust is lubricated and trapped in the cilia so it cannot scratch the surface. As well as keeping things clean, the solution provides a protective seal to the material underneath like a traditional polish would.
Vulcanet Cleaning Wipes have an RRP of £36.99 and to locate your nearest dealer, visit www.nevis.uk.com or call 01425 478936.
Vulcanet is the first premium all-in-one wipe that cleans, rejuvenates, polishes and protects all vehicles. I use mine on whatever press bike I have, but i won’t lie, I use them elsewhere too. They can be used anywhere, at home or on the go as no water or sponges are needed, not even a chamois is needed for drying. Everything you need comes in the iconic black and red tube. Simply unscrew the lid and pull out a wipe and work section by section as usual.
