The hottest summer residency on London's dining scene – Cape Town’s celebrated restaurant Pot Luck Club in pop-up form at The Waldorf Hilton on Aldwych – has been extended until the end of June 2026 due to popular demand.

And Londoners should be feeling even luckier this Christmas and new year period as its head chef, Luke Dale-Roberts, has put together an exclusive new festive menu to celebrate the news.

Known for his globally-inspired small plates and creative flair, Luke has gone for ‘festive with a twist’ with dishes like guinea fowl enlivened by juicy cranberry, fallow deer served with a rich mole jus, and five spice-seasoned duck samosas.

Alongside the restaurant take-over at the Waldorf, a bold new cocktail menu has been put together by the hotel’s Wild Monkey Bar, including an excellent Old-Fashioned infused with rooibos tea, in a nod to The Pot Luck Club’s South African origins.

Luke is actually the mastermind behind some of the best restaurants in South Africa, from The Test Kitchen to Salon, which launched in 2023. Born in the UK, then trained in England, Switzerland and throughout Asia before settling in Cape Town in 2006, he jumped at the chance to bring his successful Pot Luck Club venture to one of London’s most impressive landmark hotels.

And its success so far has triggered a seven-month extension to what had originally been planned as a summer and autumn residency, from August 2025 to the end of November.

“London was always the city that made sense,” explained Luke. “I feel so lucky to share what we’ve built in Cape Town with a new audience.”

Meanwhile the Waldorf Hilton’s general manager, Guy Hilton, remarked on how extending The Pot Luck Club’s residency was an easy decision to make.

“The response has been phenomenal,” he added. “And it’s been exciting to see the restaurant bring such fresh energy to the hotel.”
